Blueberry Pond Opens New Theatre

Blueberry Pond Theatre Ensemble will mark the opening of its new theatre space at Shine House in Cedar Lane Park, 235 Cedar Lane, Ossining, with a gala ribbon-cutting celebration on March 30th at 7:30pm. Founded in 2001, the Ensemble is the only professional theatre company in Westchester County whose season consists solely of original work, which is developed in the group’s weekly lab sessions.

The evening’s events will include a performance of group President Jean-Paul DeVellard's award-winning one-act play PINK POODLE DOG, as well as tours of the facility, and refreshments. PINK POODLE DOG is funny, warm and sometimes sad, about a motley group of travelers who find themselves waiting for a bus connection in Louisiana one night, when they meet a strange local townsperson. The play looks at marching to the beat of a different drummer, dreams deferred, and friendship, and features Molly Callahan, Cynthia Granville, Donna James (Ossining), Eric K. Johnston, and Janice Kirkel (Hartsdale). The play is suitable for family audiences. Free to the public; donations towards the cost of the theatre renovations will be welcomed.

DeVellard commented, “The ribbon cutting represents the culmination of a long, often arduous journey for our dedicated and gifted ensemble--actors, directors, writers, technicians. We look forward to sharing our new home with those we hope will be our audiences and partners in the creative process. We are also pleased to have this opportunity to say a public ‘thank you,’ in a small way, to all of those who have helped to make this event possible. The town officials, and many residents of Ossining and the surrounding area, have publicly offered invaluable support throughout this long process. By sharing our work and our theatre, we recognize the people behind the scenes as we invite others in the community to join us in our future creative endeavors.”
Town Supervisor John Chervokas will be recognized at the celebration.

Blueberry Pond’s theatre season will continue with DeVellard’s play EDEN’S END, opening April 29th. For information call 914 923-3530, email blueberryschedule@yahoo.com
